There is a meeting of apartment owners this morning, right before the typhoon Haitang affects us. It is the tenth time that this kind of meeting has ever been held, but it's just my first time to actually participate one, on behave of my parents, with a primary intention to be eligible to win prizes that will then be drawn after the meeting. It's a common practice in our society to prepare some prizes as a way to overcome the apathy within a community and it works out really well.
Beside of drawing prizes, a more serious agenda of the meeting is to elect representatives of the apartment management committee. There are community members who are willing to devote their time to the welfare of the community voluntarily. For that, I admire greatly.
