A 28-year-old Kazuto announced that he just had his best birthday party when we were leaving his apartment. It was a party participated by four Korean, two Japanese, two Taiwanese, one Peruvian, and one French. All of us are trying to learn how to achieve English fluency, but English did not dominate every conversation. Instead, we used a mixture of Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Peruvian and French languages to communicate with each other. What we ate also reflected the multicultural nature of the group: Korean BBQ wrapped with vegetables, Japanese miso soup, Chinese fried dumplings, French white wine and absinthe, Korean dessert, and American beer and birthday cake.
