My second film of 2008 TGHFF, "The Chaser", is also a debut film by Korean director, Hong-jin Na. The film was released in South Korea on February 14th, 2008. Its remake right was promptly sold to Warner Bros. in March 2008. It was reported that the team making "The Departed" will remake this film.
The reason why a Holloywood heavyweight picked up this film was evident after going through the entire plot, in which the director skillfully manipulated his audience's feelings. An audible proof of the film's success was that a guy who sat next to me, across the aisle, let out long sighs in several heartbreaking moments. I had the same feelings, but my sighs were less audible--I sighed in my head.
