According to the Economic Daily News, Acer eDC may win deal to host Google's backup data center in Asia. After the Chi-Chi earthquake in 1999, Acer's founder, Stan Shih, decided to build hosting facilities that could resist similar nature disasters; his vision was then realized by Acer eDC. If Google does choose Acer eDC, it will become the biggest client of the data center.
Acer is hardly the only company that has thought of building such hosting facilities after the major earthquake. KGEx.com, now a subsidiary of Far EasTone Telecommunications, also provides similar service with its iDC facilities.
