Tonight, a high school classmate and her husband held a party at a RSVP restaurant called Bagel Bagel. After studying and living in U.S. for more then three years, they finally came back for their wedding ceremony in Kaohsiung on March 18. Since most of their friends live in the north of Taiwan, they decided to hold an informal party after the wedding to catch up with friends and share their happiness.
In the middle of the party, the host and hostess presented a video documentary, in which the house-loaded guests were kindly reminded their participation in different stages of the couple's life. What impressed me the most, though, was a ludicrous twist in the video showing the hostess yelling the "F" word in Chinese, in a way of announcing she had felt the freedom to break any taboo imposed upon her.
The restaurant was decorated with photographs and mementos that are in the couple's personal collection: Passing the front door, in a small table in the reception, we could see a cell phone bag knitted by the host himself as a birthday present for the hostess; Also lying on the table was a photo taken by a police when the couple were ridding a motorbike -- an evidence of violation of some kind of law; What I related to the most was this photo hanging on a folding screen -- the volleyball gang of four. I met three of them in this party.
All and all, it was a great party, in spite of the hostess saying that it's planned in a bit of hurry. From a guest's point of view, it surely turned out well. I would recommend this special restaurant to anyone who wants to hold a casual and relaxing party.
