Now in its fifth year, Hakka Tung Blossom Festival is an event participated by multiple counties and townships across northern and central Taiwan. Tung, or paulownia, is a prominent symbol that represents Hakka culture in Taiwan. Their connection can be traced back to the period of Japan colonization, during which the Tung trees were important economic crops. When the Tung flowers start to shower, it's like showing in early summer, which is why it is also called the "May Snow".
