I was among a throng of people who standing in front of the new facade of Taipei City Hall, covered with white screens in order to reflect lasers, waiting for the first laser show to begin at 7 PM - the main attraction of the 2005 Lantern Festival of Taipei.
The main theme of the festival. A Taipei City logo embedded in a nightly sky filled with stars. Above it, the slogan of the festival, "Spectacular Dancing Lights of Taipei City", which could not be captured clearly with my phone camera. The main theme of the 2005 Lantern Festival of Taipei
On one side of the Taipei City Hall, a lantern of flying dragon emitting light into the cloudy night, despite we are in a year of chicken, not dragon.

An image of the Statue of Liberty was projected on one of the big white screens. The resolution of the images is incredibly high, however, they are all fixed images and can move vertically and horizontally or spin - still not moving pictures.

One of the big projectors that beam lasers on to the white screen. I have a projector myself, but it's far smaller then this one. I wonder how many years will it take to make the same technology available at home.

An AD of my company's archrival, which is also one of the primary sponsors for this event. If you look close enough, you should find the image was not aligned properly in the middle of the screen. The image is too big to be handled by one projector and apparently, the two projectors participated in showing this image were not working together very well.
